Recipe for classic lasagna

 Recipe for classic lasagna:


- 12 lasagna noodles

- 1 pound ground beef

- 1/2 pound Italian sausage

- 1 onion, diced

- 3 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes

- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce

- 2 tablespoons tomato paste

- 2 teaspoons dried basil

- 2 teaspoons dried oregano

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

- 2 cups ricotta cheese

- 1 egg

- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese


1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, and garlic over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.

4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and parsley. Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

5. In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and egg. Mix well.

6. Take a 9x13-inch baking dish and spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Layer 4 cooked lasagna noodles on top, slightly overlapping.

7. Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the meat sauce and a third of the mozzarella cheese.

8. Repeat the layering process with 4 more lasagna noodles, the remaining ricotta cheese mixture, another third of the meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese.

9. Place the final 4 lasagna noodles on top, followed by the remaining meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.

10. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.

11. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

12. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.

13. Let the lasagna cool for about 10-15 minutes before cutting and serving.
