Sweet and sour chicken

Here's a recipe for sweet and sour chicken:


Ingredients:

- 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

- 1/2 cup cornstarch

- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

- 1 red bell pepper, diced

- 1 green bell pepper, diced

- 1 small onion, diced

- 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or canned)

- 1/4 cup white vinegar

- 2 tablespoons ketchup

- 2 tablespoons soy sauce

- 2 tablespoons brown sugar

- 1 cup chicken broth

- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

- Green onions, sliced (for garnish)

- Cooked rice (for serving)


Instructions:


1. In a bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.


2. Coat the chicken pieces with the flour mixture, making sure they are well-covered.


3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.


4. Add the chicken pieces to the hot oil and cook until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside.


5. In the same pan, add the diced bell peppers and onion. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.


6. Add pineapple chunks and continue to cook for another minute.


7. In a separate bowl, whisk together white vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, and chicken broth.


8. Pour the sauce mixture into the pan with the vegetables and pineapple. Bring to a simmer.


9. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water. Stir until smooth.


10. Add the cornstarch mixture to the sauce and stir well until the sauce thickens.


11. Return the cooked chicken to the pan and toss until evenly coated with the sweet and sour sauce.


12. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the chicken is heated through.


13. Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions.


14. Serve the sweet and sour chicken over cooked rice.


15. Enjoy your homemade sweet and sour chicken!
