Recipe for Chinese dumplings


 Hi mom ... Here's a recipe for making Chinese dumplings, It's quite easy to make and of course delicious,some of people like to fry or just eat with their favorite sauce.


Ingredients:

- 1 pound ground minced chicken 

- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage

- 1/2 cup finely chopped green onions

- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)

- 2 tablespoons soy sauce

- 2 tablespoons sesame oil

- 1 tablespoon grated ginger

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

- Package of round dumpling wrappers (about 40 wrappers)

- Water for sealing


For dipping sauce:

- 1/4 cup soy sauce

- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or black vinegar

- 1 tablespoon sesame oil

- 1 teaspoon chili oil (optional)

- 1 clove garlic, minced


Instructions:


👉 In a large mixing bowl, combine the minced chicken, cabbage, green onions, cilantro (if using), soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

👉 Take a dumpling wrapper and place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center. Wet the outer edges of the wrapper with water using your finger.

👉 Fold the dumpling in half, forming a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges to seal the dumpling tightly. If desired, you can also create pleats along the sealed edge for an added decorative touch.

👉 Repeat this process until all the filling is used up and you have a plate of sealed dumplings ready to cook.

👉 To cook, you can choose one of two methods: boiling or pan-frying. 


   - For boiling: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully drop in the dumplings and give them a gentle stir so they don't stick to the bottom of the pot. Boil for about 5-7 minutes, until the dumplings float to the top and the filling is cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon and serve.

   

   - For pan-frying: Heat a tablespoon of oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Place the dumplings in the pan, making sure they don't touch each other. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms turn golden brown. Then, add 1/4 cup of water to the pan and cover immediately with a lid to let the dumplings steam for an additional 5 minutes. Remove the lid and continue cooking until all the water has evaporated and the bottoms of the dumplings are crispy.

   

👉 While the dumplings are cooking, prepare the dipping sauce by mixing the soy sauce, rice vinegar or black vinegar, sesame oil, chili oil (if desired), and minced garlic in a small bowl.

👉 Serve the cooked dumplings hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
